An impressively sturdy and simple looking machine capable of taking 10½ reels and having two speeds – 7½ and 3¾ ips, the semi-professional Concertone 1501 by Berlant was well-built and very heavy (60lbs or 27.3kg!).
Features included three over-size motors (a fast wind time of 2,500 feet in one minute) including a direct drive synchronous motor, and plug-in erase, record and plyback heads which could be changed from single to
dual-track simply and quickly with only minor lateral adjustment required.
